Life Lessons from Disney

Updated: May 4, 2023

Our family recently got back from Disney World and from many, I’ve been asked “So… how was it?!” The experience is what you’d expect. The good, the great, the hard, and the ugly. In my true nature, I find some sort of existentialism in everything ;) So taking into account the daily details of the big picture, I found life lessons to be learned or remembered. Disney certainly was an educational experience and here's what I came up with - little life lessons you can also keep in mind on your next big vaca with your littles.

  1. Patience requires endurance, which makes the former harder sometimes.

  2. There will be no perfect vacation…no perfect experience to that end. But it can still be perfectly imperfect.

  3. Gratitude cannot co-exist with anxiety.

  4. Learning curves are inevitable, and you’ll be inefficient and unproductive during them. That’s the point.

  5. Big emotions don’t just happen, they come from big impact.

  6. Anger is a vehicle for another emotion - name that emotion and you can work through the anger.

  7. One magical moment covers many difficult moments.

  8. Mindfulness is not just knowing, but also accepting where you are and who you are in the present moment.

  9. Life is more simple than we make it.

  10. The best coping tool for watching your kids grow, is to slow down.
